MINDFULNESS
The definition of Mindfulness is present time awareness, without judgement.
Mindfulness can calm the nervous system, quiet the mind, help individuals regulate emotions and redirect negative thoughts to more positive thoughts. Mindfulness cultivates a better sense of well-being. Simple walking and Yoga movements can help with concentration and ease stress.
As we focus on trauma during EMDR therapy, mindfulness is a delicate, yet powerful, tool for emotional regulation that can be practiced in and out of the office. Simple one-minute or two-minute meditations are all that are needed to begin healing and empowerment. Yin and other forms of yoga help balance the body and can help integration of mind and body. The practice can grow, cultivating a deeper, calmer relationship with self and others.
